Conferences

Conference for Radical Women, May 15-17, Camp Yakewi, Austinburg, Ohio. A chance for the Cleveland Women's Community to share concerns and successes as well as visions for the future. The Region V Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training Conference for all the midwestern states will be held at the Bond Court Hotel May 11 through May 14. Information on apprenticeship programs in the entire Midwestern Region will be available. For further information, call Amy at WISE, 696-6967.

The 10th IWWG Writing Conference and Retreat will take place July 24-26 (weekend) and July 26-31 (retreat), at Skidmore College. The 1981 theme is "The Ethics of Writing: Conflict with Conscience". Cleveland Women Working will present a Working Women's Convention entitled "Office Workers Meet the Challenge of the '80s' on Saturday, May 16, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Cleveland State University. Services and Resources

If you are a woman with a problem and don't know where to turn, Women'Space's Help Line, 696-3100, may be able to put you in touch with helpful community resources. The Help Line's hours.are 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Friday. Women who call for assistance are provided with information and referrals by a staff of trained women specialists who can assess the caller's needs and refer her to vocational/career resources, social service agencies, physicians, therapists, attorneys and self-help groups. The staff regularly researches and updates a resource bank to insure that current information is available.

Group Counseling for Incest Victims. Ten weekly sessions on Tuesday evenings from 6:00-8:00 p.m., beginning April 7. For more information call co-leaders Clare Farnsworth of the West Side Community Mental Health Center, 281-8600, or Janice Ranch of the Rape Crisis Center, 391-3914.

The Cleveland Women's Handbook is a collection of thoughts by women on women and their lives, and a comprehensive listing of services and agencies which serve women. It includes consumer information and questions to help us choose, use and influence those services and agencies. The Handbook is sponsored by Cleveland Women's Counsel, the Rape Crisis Center, Women Together and WomenSpace. Individual copies are $5 each plus $1 postage and handling. Orders of 5 or more are $4 each, plus postage and handling. The Handbook is available to lowincome women through social service agencies. Call CWC, 321-8587, for information. Education for Freedom of Choice in Ohio (EFCO) can provide professionals from all areas to speak to your group or organization on the subject of abortion. The FREE CLINIC is offering individual and group counseling for victims of incest on Tuesday evenings between 7:00 and 10:00 p.m. To make an appointment, call 721-4010 and say you want an appointment with Joyce Spencer or Jan Felixson. Conference for Radical Women

A conference for Cleveland radical women is being planned for May 15-17 at Camp Yakewi in Austinburg, Ohio. The following goals have been identified:

Identify and support resource women. Encourage development of new skills.

• Share our concerns for the survival of feminism.

• Share a vision of a functioning, healthy, supportive community.

• Share a residential rural weekend and enjoy ourselves.

Begin to identify new areas of interest or concern; need for further discussion, organizational support, etc.

Workshops: Health and Healing, Women's Houses, Economic Empowerment for Women, Chemical Dependency, Radical Feminism, Land, Fat Liberation, Lesbian Unity, Issues around Work, Feminist Media/What She Wants, Spirituality, Panel Discussion, Women's Music and Culture, Ecology, Social Spaces, and Women Against Pornography. Fee: $30.00 in advance, $35.00 at the door, which includes all meals (gourmet vegetarian). Dorm-style cabins, sleeping approximately 20 women each. All registrations must be accompanied by a check or money order for the full amount.
